Recreation in nature
There are few places in the world where mineral waters, healing muds, lakes, the sea, forests and clean air can all be found in one place. Jaunķemeri has it all, and you can enjoy it without limits.
The resort's beautiful seaside landscape is so attractive: the golden sandy beach, the pine-covered dunes, the extensive forest parks, the proximity to the sea and lakes; the resort's natural conditions are particularly valuable; the mild climate, the clean, richly ionised air, the healing mud and mineral waters have all been used for centuries to treat people. During the pharmacological boom, the use of natural factors is gaining popularity in the treatment of diseases of various organs, systems and tissues of the body.
The only resort rehabilitation centre in Latvia is located in Jūrmala, in Jaunķemeri, in a unique environment that is ideal for rehabilitation - in a pine forest, between the sea and Lake Slokas, 35 km from Riga and only 300 m from the beach. Here, not only knowledgeable specialists take care of the patients' recovery, but it seems that the surrounding nature itself - pine trees, sea, beach, clean air, serious atmosphere - also contribute. It is no wonder that some patients come to the Centre year after year to enjoy the medical rehabilitation services and health rejuvenation treatments offered by the Centre.
Ķemeri National Park boasts peat mud, which is unique in the world, formed on hydrogen sulphide springs, and three types of healing mineral waters. Hydrogen sulphide, sodium chloride and bromine mineral waters are nature's gifts for medicinal use. Unfortunately, they cannot be bought in shops, but everyone can go to Ķemeri to the sulphur pavilion "Ķirzaciņas" or to the Jaunķemeri sulphur spring and collect the water in containers. Healing mineral waters improve the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, proteins and minerals in the body, restore the structure of damaged organs, improve the respiratory activity of cells, reduce pain, inflammation and oedema.
!Just be aware that it will not be drinkable for more than 24 hours.
Jaunķemeri Rehabilitation Centre is located in a unique location between the sea and Lake Sloka. It is a shallow coastal lake with dolomitic bottom, rich aquatic vegetation and sulphur springs. The lake is home to several protected bird species and it is an important resting place for migratory birds. Lake Slokas is therefore a good bird-watching site, especially during spring and autumn bird migration period. Fishing is allowed in the lake.
Near Lake Sloka you will find:
- A floating bird watching tower
- A sulphur spring that flow out into the lake near the birdwatching tower
- The Sloka Lake walking trail (3.1 km) and The Sloka Lake-Kūdra cycling route (3.5 km)
